The Mind Marathon at the Orem City Library will take on Edgar Allen Poe, master of the macabre. Best remembered for his tales such as "The Fall of the House of Usher" and "The Telltale Heart," Poe is also the nearly universally acknowledged inventor of the detective story, beginning with "Murder in the Rue Morgue."His was a relatively short and tragic life, marred by tragedy and suffering, but his works stand as classics of American Gothic literature.
BYU's Dennis Perry will give an introduction to Edgar Allen Poe in the Storytelling Wing at 7:00 p.m.
